Our story

The Neuma Sax Quartet was founded in 2024 at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, with the aim of uniting four musical personalities in a shared vision through the sound of the saxophone. The result is a constant dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity.

The name reflects the quartet's identity: the neuma is a graphic sign used in medieval musical notation before the invention of the staff. It derives from the Greek pnéuma (πνεῦμα), «breath» — a symbol of music and an essential element for playing the saxophone. A name that speaks for itself.
